NFF THANK BUHARI FOR RESTORING SANITY

The Nigeria Football Federation has heaped praises on President Muhammadu Buhari for his directive that has ensured a peaceful resolution of a long-drawn leadership tussle and bring sanity back in the football body.
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the NFF Secretariat, Abuja yesterday morning with orders to restore normalcy to the place, and were later joined by Dr. Sanusi, who received a letter from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice to the effect that Nigeria would respect world football body, FIFA's position on the matter.
Speaking immediately after the Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi, called to inform him that government agents led him to resume work at the Glass House, NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, who just returned from Morocco where he addressed a CAF conference, said he has always trusted in the understanding and commitment of President Buhari to act in the best interest of the nation.
But Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, has maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari will not disregard court rulings as it concerns the NFF leadership tussle.
Barrister Dalung said in a statement that the status quo remains.

SALISU DENIES BRIBE CLAIMS
Nigeria’s chief coach Salisu Yusuf has denied any wrongdoing after footage broadcast on Tuesday showed him accepting money from undercover reporters posing as football agents.
The BBC showed a video of Yusuf taking what it said was $1 000 (850 euros) after a conversation about the selection of two players for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
He was also told he would receive 15 percent of the fee if the players were included in the Nigeria squad for the tournament, which is open only to home-based African footballers.
The two players in the latest report were not identified. But Yusuf says he believed the money was not an inducement and fell within guidelines from the world governing body FIFA and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) about accepting gifts.
There was no immediate response from the NFF.

HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING
FURY LABELS JOSHUA 'A DISGRACE TO BOXING'
Tyson Fury has launched an attack on fellow heavyweight Anthony Joshua for apparently turning down the chance to fight Deontay Wilder.
WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Joshua failed to reach a deal with WBC champion Wilder in a fight which would have unified the division's belts.
Instead Joshua will take on Russia's Alexander Povetkin on September 22 at Wembley as his next opponent after defeating Joseph Parker most recently.
And Fury has suggested Joshua is scared of fighting the American and believes the heavyweight division deserves better from their champion.
Fury himself is on the comeback trail with an upcoming fight against Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park, his second since returning from a two-and-a-half year absence due medical and personal issues.

The 21-year-old was set to fly to Italy to complete his move to the Giallorossi, only for the Camp Nou outfit to step in and make a bid of their own
Barcelona have agreed a €41 million (£36.5m/$48m) deal to bring Bordeaux forward Malcom to Camp Nou having hijacked Roma's move for the Brazilian, Goal understands.
Roma confirmed on Monday that for a fee of €38m (£34m/$44m).
The player was expected to arrive in Rome on Tuesday to undergo a medical and complete the move but did not travelled given Barca's late interest.

BREAKING NEWS : BUHARI SACK GIWA FROM NFF HOUSE

OZIL QUITS GERMAN NATIONAL TEAM

Germany midfielder,  Mesut Ozil, has announced his retirement from international football with immediate effect.
Ozil, was made the scapegoat for Germany’s lacklustre display at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The 2014 World Champions failed to make it out of their group following two defeats and a win.
Ozil was criticised for his performance in Germany’s first defeat to Mexico, before being dropped for the victory over Sweden.
He was subsequently returned to the starting XI for the must-win clash with South Korea, but was again on the losing side.
Ozil posted three open letters on the  social media on Sunday, concluding with his resignation from international football in which he hit out at the ‘racism and disrespect’ he has been subjected to.
Ozil’s first post of the day defended his decision to pose for a picture alongside Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan back in May – an image that landed him in hot water at the time.
While the second letter was directed at the German media, and hit out at them for blaming the picture and his dual-heritage for the nation’s poor World Cup performance.

DSS EJECTS GIWA-LED FACTION FROM NFF OFFICE

Chris Giwa has been ejected from the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on orders from the presidency.
FIFA had threatened to ban Nigeria if the situation was not resolved and Amaju Pinnick not reinstated as NFF president.
The Supreme Court ruling on June 5 set aside Pinnick’s election and recognized Giwa as substantive chairman.
But on Monday, Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the offices of the Nigeria Football Federation to eject Giwa and his board stating that they were working on instructions from above.
The NFF Secretary General Muhammed Sanusi has since resumed office while Amaju Pinick who had been away supervising the CAF roundtable symposium on Africa’s performance at the recently-concluded 2018 Russia World Cup will return to Nigeria on Tuesday.

LIVERPOOL COMPLETES RECORD SIGNING OF ALISSON

LIVERPOOL COMPLETES RECORD SIGNING OF ALISSON

Liverpool have completed the €73m signing of Alisson Becker from Roma.

The Brazilian has signed a six-year deal at Anfield and becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in history by doing so.

He is the Reds' fourth signing of what is becoming an impressive summer for Jurgen Klopp's side, joining Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri in moving to Merseyside.
AC MILAN BAN OVERTURNED BY CAS
Italian side AC Milan have had their one-year ban from European football overturned.
Uefa had issued the punishment after deciding Milan had breached a Financial Fair Play requirement to break even after spending £200m on transfers.
But the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) partially upheld the club's appeal and asked Uefa to issue a more "proportionate disciplinary measure".
The Italians are now free to play in this season's Europa League.
Milan had qualified for the group stages of the competition after finishing sixth in Serie A.
